If you tuned into the Women’s Rugby World Cup Final on the 27 September, you would have seen Jess McConnell, one of our postgraduate students in the Menkin Group, who recently stepped onto the rugby pitch as a flag holder. She ran on the Twickenham Stadium pitch in the flag team before the ¾ playoffs and the Final.
Jess says: “The flag team was a mixture of women’s rugby teams from around London. I joined as part of Cantabs rugby club in Cambridge and The Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club (CURUFC).”
By chance, our photographer Nathan Pitt was in the stands and happened to catch Jess on film.

The scores from the two games were:
Bronze Final: New Zealand 42 –26 France
Final: England 33 –13 Canada
We’ll be cheering Jess on both on the pitch and beyond!
