New Chairs

Returning library users will have noticed changes in the Chemistry Library this academic year. Some of these were quite subtle – for instance, we introduced new signage in the Main Library collection to make browsing and finding specific books easier – and others more readily apparent: primarily, the arrival of new comfortable chairs in the Wellbeing Area and 40 new operator chairs. The new additions have been popular with users and have revitalised the library space.

Send us your memories

2026 will mark 25 years since the opening of the Centre for Molecular Informatics (now the Unilever Centre) and the Chemistry Library as it stands today. The centre was celebrated with a ‘pre-opening’ party on Friday 12th January 2001 (as reported in Chem@Cam 10, 2001).

To help celebrate this anniversary, the library team welcomes recollections of the Chemistry Library – or Cyber Library as it was first known – from anyone who was in the department at that time. We would be grateful if you could share your memories of the Chemistry Library’s construction and early days by emailing library@ch.cam.ac.uk.
